Laura: Are you okay that we're not getting a dog? Katy: Yup. Laura: I always had dogs as a girl. Katy: Those were the olden days. You didn't have HDTVs, cell phones and the internet for fun. Laura Oh my. That makes me sad that you say that. Katy: Want me to go get your cell phone?

Nothing beats a pet. Unless of course that pet involves your sweetie.

Cleo, good thing I know you love your sweetie. The first time I read your comment, it didn’t sound very good. Then I realized you meant it as a verb and not a noun :-)

I grew up with pets and toys long before those things came along.

Akenta, rereading my comment this morning, I realize that you are right. I could have phrased it better.

having a pet would be a very large responsibility for those young’uns and they would rather spend their time on the’net or playing video games

We knew better than to expect our kids to take care of our dogs when we got them, as the boys were still below school age at that point. My husband didn’t get to have a dog for very long when he was growing up, due to his father’s allergies, so the surviving dog became his dog more than our sons’. It was a great experience for the whole family.

Yeah, a dog would chew up all those things……

That’s not what she’s sad about Katie. It’s sad not to have a pet. And it’s sad that your entertainment comes from watching things, and not living in the present, enjoying living things.

I have had dogs (2-3 at once) all my life. Your dogs will always love you, but I can’t say the same about people. Some people will only be your friend if they think there is something in it for them.

Who drew this? Dogs always love you. Puppies quit chewing….eventually.

God drew this. I can’t believe you don’t see the influence.
