Adam: Hey, kids! Who wants to go to the hardware store with me? Clayton: Not now, pop. Katy: No, thanks. Adam: Come on! I'll let you pick out the caulking or grout of your choice! Clayton: I'm still a "no". Katy: Me, too. No thank you. Adam: I'll never understand kids today.

Oh my! How exciting! To pick out the caulking and grout of my choice? How can they possibly say no to such a thrill as that?

I would’ve went….For a candy bar! ;) That’s how my dad got us to go with…but we never went to the hardware store…Just the gas station or regular store to pick up a couple things.

Sears to buy tools, No candy bar, however the Nuts and Candy counter was right there. Cashews & Turtles. I went every time. Dad always wanted the Pistachios that were red. My fingers were always red! The white ones taste just as good, I never buy the red ones anymore.

I still remember my Dad taking us to Huston Lumber when I was in grade school (about 40 years ago). He always had some construction project he was working on, besides his normal job. I don’t remember getting anything to go, but he usually only took one kid at a time with him. (There’s 5 of us kids) I think I went just to get away from my sister & brothers. It was much more enjoyable than going with him to the construction sites for the whole day. I still enjoy shopping at Lowe’s, instead of a clothing store any day!

I’m the opposite. I loved hardware stores as a kid but now they are boring unless there’s something in particular I’m looking for.
