Memere, you must take really good care of it. Come to think of it I wonder if my mother is still using the same tree we got when I was a teenager. If you take good care of things there’s no reason it can’t last many years.

My husband has banned Christmas from the house and refuses to shop, go to Christmas parties, or visit the children on Christmas. So, if you don’t care what anyone thinks and are retired, you can quit Christmas, if that is what you want to do.

One of my great family memories is that we would go out to the farm of some friends and take just the top of a good sized pine as our Christmas tree. That meant the tree could and would still grow, and we had a fresh tree.

since i live alone, i’ve never had a tree or put up any decorations in my home(s). my family always gathered at my parents place - which was always well decked out. since Mom’s gone now, and Dad’s in a small apartment, things are changing - and i may just start. still, what am i going to do. buy some presents, put them under a tree, then open them Christmas morning and say, “Surprise!” to myself?

why spend all that money on a tree when as soon as it is cut it starts to die, ..donate that money to a charity, a homeless shelter or even a local veterans organization. you don’t need a tree to celebrate Christmas

A tree starts to die the moment it sprouts … just like you and i do when we’re born.

I love having a fake tree. It’s so easy! It’s not messy.

Susan001 here with her usual negativeness. I’m not Christian, actually I’m not religious at all but I sure enjoy Christmas (or Yule as we all call it up here - even the Christians - Christ doesn’t enter the name of the festivities at all).
