Getting a dog that’s already house-trained is a good idea, Laura.

Actually, she’s been lowering her standards ever since she said, “I do.”

Yay! All my pets have been shelter pets! Older, already house trained is the way to go, especially with young kids around, like their house. You can get puppies at shelters too. I think the next one will be puppy, just because I’ve never had one and then the rest will be older dogs again. :)

Yes, rescue dogs are the best. You can often get a very well trained dog that way.

I just lost one of mine two weeks ago, we gave him a home and he gave us 9 wonderful years. It will probably be a while, but the next dog will also be a rescue.

Really? This strip seems so wholesome since I’ve been reading.

@Comedynut“The right dog will never come”…I think you’re confusing dogs with cats. Most dogs WILL come, but cats never come on command. They only appear when THEY want to come!

Cats will come if:1. You only call them for something good, like a treat.1b. Which means, never call them to take them to the vet.2. And if they feel like it :)

Makes me wonder – why do we never see Baby Nick? Do the keep him in a cage in the basement?
