Adam: Okay, gumbo. We need to write a news later today. This will require laser-like focus on both of our parts. No Facebooking. No Youtube. No chasing the tennis ball. No barking at the mailman. No Twitter or Reddit. No digging in the yard. But I'll make you a deal. If we work straight through it to 11am, we get a treat. A milk bone and a belly rub for you. A chocolate pop-tart for me. Okay, break on three. Laura: Staff meeting? Adam: You mock, but they've really improved company morale.

Adam has it right. Work expands to fit the time allotted. Have a deadline. With a nice reward – but I would go for a warm chocolate brownie (with nuts, of course).
