It’s the hazard of having a good assistant. They can’t do what they don’t know about.

I have always been overweight. My weight has been about 280 lbs for the past 36 years or so, One time I got sick back in my 20’s, had no money for doctors or prescriptions. I went almost a month where i struggled even keeping water down, never mind food. I lost over 100lbs so that i was actually the weight I’m supposed to be for my height according to the bmi and looked like death warmed over. Everyone who saw me until I regained the “overweight” commented on how sickly i looked. Sometimes extra weight can be a good thing.

I sometimes wonder if my doctor is waiting for me to get sick so he can say “I told you so”

The “BMI” is just so much bullarky. According to that, I’m obese, but it doesn’t figure in the higher mass of muscle over fat. I’m a little overweight, yes, but I sure as gorram hell ain’t “obese”…

He should switch to a doctor like mine. He says the numbers on the scale don’t mean much, it’s the numbers in your blood work that matter. I’ve been 20 pounds overweight since the birth of my first child but I get an annual blood workup that is quote “beautiful” so the Doc says I should “feel free to eat Popeyes in moderation.”

Stupid chart. Doesn’t take into account shrinkage in height. At my current weight, my BMI used to be 27.5. Now? 30.4

My waist is less than ½ my height and that is the best indicator for me. BMI is a scam dreamed up by insurance companies. Adam should worry about his blood sugar above all else. Another good indicator is if he can see his toes when he stands straight up.
