When I entered Marine Corps boot camp at Parris Island, I wrote home and told mother and dad that they wouldn’t believe it, but they served meat 3 times a day. Meat, for us, was the rare occasion of chicken on Sunday, so it was quite the surprise. I didn’t know that other people ate that way. None of the people did that I grew up around! Later, when the guys that I served with would say, “Aw, roast beef, again”, I would say, “Oh boy, meat!!!”
