I came across two female snapping turtles one day, several years ago. It was egg laying season. They had both been run over by a utility truck and they were dying. I was as disturbed then as is Agnes today.
This reminds of the story where the neighbors had a rabbit. One day the dog was seen playing witht he corpse of the rabbit. To cover up the dog’s misdeeds, they cleaned it up, washed, blow dried, put it back in it’s cage. They were hoping the neighbors would think it died a natural death.-The next day the neighbors came over and told of the strange incident where their rabbit died, they buried it in the back yard only to come home some hours later to find the rabbit out of its grave, clean and fluffy, still dead but back in the cage.-I believe there’s another version in which they replace the dead rabbit with a living one from the pet store, also causing consternation for the owners who had buried it earlier.
To my recollection I have never seen the bit performed on Monty Python, but I have seen John Cleese performing this monologue.on Fawlty Towers. Great show rerun on PBS.
…… and I repeat… it is most seriously dead. dead as the proverbial doornail. No need for the hammer. It is gone, I say. Gone. Out the door, never to return…….…Now, how would you like your soup?

Agnes must have figured out a way to get a wig, somehow from somewhere. Yes, I’m still hung up on that.
