When I lived in Illinois, we had to go to school ‘til June; but out here in farmland it’s May – and I don’t even know any farmers.

If it’s any consolation,Agnes, the Principal is looking forward to the end too.

My youngest gets out on the 5th, the two above her get out on the 6th and my 16 year old gets out on the 9.

As one who lived in real live farm towns for many years, I never noticed much difference between when the urban guys got out and when we did. My wife however sometimes had kids pulled out of class because the cows got out.

It seems that Trout’s calculations are off, too. If we assume that the strip was intended to run on Monday, and that they’re on their way to school, then they would indeed have 5 school days left. But for Agnes, wouldn’t 5 school days mean about 3 or 4 detentions, 5 tardies, and a couple dozen walks of shame to the principal?

June 6th – quite a historical day, Agnes.
