The problem with today’s installment of this comic strip is that, if you don’t go to bars or drink alcoholic beverages, you won’t understand the joke.

I don’t go to bars, I don’t drink alcoholic beverages, and I didn’t comprehend the alleged humor portrayed in this comic strip.

By John’s logic the fact we’re not British should preclude us Yanks from ever comprehending the humor of this strip. And yet, most of us manage.

But, what was the joke?

I don’t get it either. Maybe one of you could explain it to us non-drinkers???

Cocktails are half price. Knowing that ordering a beer, which is not considered a cocktail, isn’t going to get a discount for Andy, he attempts to get a discount by taking a Tequila Sunrise, which is a cocktail and adapting it to fit his agenda of scoring a half price beer.

It is tequila, orange juice and grenadine. A beer with grenadine is so disgusting that it proves Andy’s desire for beer goes beyond the pleasure fo what the beer offers itself. Nah…he’s just cheap!

Knowing Andy he is probably just thinking in terms of giving his pint of beer a fancy name, rather than actually adding anything to it. Either way, it’s very funny.

Thank you, Telemakhos. I don’t think Andy would know anything about any kind of exotic drink–just trying to get off cheaply. This strip is and always has been funny.

You guys and gals, I am a hearing impaired and my second language is English so I try to do my best shot. Alcoholic can kill the human if the person keeps drinking every day and night. Bye bye! RIP! So think about your and our health’s sake to make sure that we do not need to drink the beer, wine or whatever every day and night. Only one wine to drink is enough to build the blood in our body. That’s it! I used to drink the alcohol till I realized supposedly if it would be kill me or happens to me if I would be in car accident or put me in jail for a DUI. I decided to stop at once and for all. By the way that strip of Andy Capp is kind of funny or joke; therefore, we should laugh, enjoy reading funny comments on those comic strips. Instead of make negative comments about those comic strips. Come on! Light up! think twice before you make the comments before you post. I just want to say something in nice way. OK! The thing about Andy Capp is that he’s supposed to be an anti-hero. He’s a bad example, he knows it and he doesnt care. It’s what makes him funny, even likeable in a rascally rogue kind of way. Like Homer Simpson or Norm from Cheers. If you dont get the joke you might want to stick to Garfield or Dennis the Menace.
