This comic strip is beginning to sound like a one note song. I miss the old Flo and Andy.

I don’t think this “marriage guidance” is working for them since Andy refuses to change. Flo keeps enabling him so nothing will ever change.

Andy wishes the money Flo is paying for “marriage Guidance” would be better spent elsewhere for him only on racing and beer. Who needs crummy old advice anyway from a nagging ungreatful wife who wants to waste her money when he could better spend it? I have no clue what the old strips of Andy and Flo where like. How many years was the old strip running before the change happened? And how long has the current strip been running. I can’t type right.

The original creator of Andy Capp, Reg Smythe passed on in 1998, the strip started in 1957 and the torch was passed on to Mahoney and Kettle about 1998. Check out Wiki entry for ‘Andy Capp.’ I have several of the original US book compilations and the currrent strips have remained reasonably true to the original in my opinion save for some slight modifications for the current times. Andy Capp, like all great characters is a representation an archetype common in the culture he is drawn from/in.

Being whacked by an “Old Bat” will probably hurt as much as being whacked by a new bat.

I’m under the same impression as mfcoace. With only slight changes in substance, Andy Capp has remained constant in spirit since its inception. I’ve watched it for at least 30 years of its run in…oh, what were those things called…ah, yes, newspapers! :)

You’re right Susan. If Andy were the perfect husband he’d be a bore. He is definitely a character we love to hate, especially we women who would rather die than be married to the likes of him!
