I would think an unfenced canal couldn’t be very deep; that would be a severe hazard, not that it isn’t dangerous in its present state. A good wake up when you hit it, that’s for sure.^^Actually, my canal, the Welland, is 30ft deep and most of it unfenced

Yup, it’s locks are meant to accommodate ships 730 feet long and 80 ft wide

A fair while ago now, a group of us took a narrowboat holiday on the canals. A great time was had by all. Every lunch time and evening there was a canalside pub we could moor up at and partake of the beverages..One night there was an argument at both ends of the boat and there was stomping overhead as the women swapped boyfriends. Us two single guys in the middle were killing ourselves with laughter.

Look out below!….Rat from Pearls Before Swine is jumping off the corner of the strip right now, and aiming right for Andy’s head.

Maybe a passing barge tried to trawl Andy out. And didn’t want him.

Not much of a difference, really. Bonnets and hoods both go on the head . What you call the trunk is what “landed types” used to put their wellington boots in. So things get put in the trunk. We gave up trying to understand Transatlantican long ago.

I take it your canal is practically river wide and deep, considering that ocean class vehicles are travelling it.^^And don’t forget that lakers are considerably larger than “Salties”

Couldn’t afford to drink too much. It was strange collection of people; there was a stagehand (me); a radiographer; a museum curator; a University lab technician; a computer programmer and I forget what the radiographer’s second boyfriend did (he didn’t last long)..It was a good holiday, though and we were all amateur photographers (pre digital).

All they need to do now is give the trolley a nice big push and Andy will sail far, far away.

Oh wait… It’s a canal isn’t it? Not the ocean.

    LOL xxx

Somehow you seem to be far too sophisticated to have such an affection for such a lout as our beloved Andy Capp, lol!

I was thinking about that only the other day. I thought ‘I wonder why me, a girly girl enjoys reading a comic strip about a male chauvinist’ But I HAVE been reading Andy Capp since my ‘little girlhood’

Used to ask my Dad for the paper just to see Andy and ONLY Andy.

Reading the ‘old classics’ of Andy Capp keep me in a good humour.

I am good, thank you. Stayed in a lot today due to a wet snow coming down. Watched Star Trek Phase II, which I will provide a link for at the end of this note. Went out and dropped some empty propane bottles and stopped at Household Hazardous Waste; had a nice visit with Shelly, one of the chemical workers. She is Mexican and has been there about three months or so.

The sci-fi program was made by private individuals and had help from some of the cast and crew from the original S.T. series. I know that it took the original to give birth to this later rendering, but the later ones have real humanity, including the swearing. Not since Babylon 5 have I got a feeling of the isolation and desolation of outer space. The production is stupendous, marred only by the low rezzy of YouBoob. I should like to look into getting these on DVD.

Your cleaned up shot looks great, and the lacy ring gives you a royal air. All you need is “crowned” !

I’ve just finished watching that episode of Star Trek Phase II which you posted yesterday.

You might be shocked to know this but that was my first viewing. I’ve never watched Star Trek before until now.

The episode itself was really awesome and I enjoyed it a lot.

Captain Kirk is quite a looker. So is that ‘Peter’ guy.

Thank you for the info alongside it too. Hope you manage to get it on DVD soon.

It was a very cool episode but it’s not something I could watch all the time. If you know what I mean…

I hope you’re doing great. Glad you like my Avatar.

I have Number Six to thank for posting it clearer but Linda Dean made a very good attempt.

A Benny Hill joke: A battleaxe of a wife is talking to her hubbie. “Drink and sex! That’s what killed your uncle, drink and sex!” Benny replies: “Yeah, he couldn’t get either one so he shot himself!”@MikeyjLove this one today! How many are left in your series for us to look forward to?

didn’t know that about the boats being larger, when I think of ocean cruise ships and oil tankers. Not sure how they would work in your Welland. Sometime time ago I mentioned being at a crossing point when a boat was going through. It was night, so there were plenty of lights.

^^Well, when I say larger than salties, I mean the work boats, not giant cruise ships or supertankers… smaller tankers do use the canal though

    @Gweedo Murray

Here’s a little graph to show you the size difference between salties and lakers. the lakers are circled (You’ll note the one circled in blue is the same size as the salties, it’s an old one, made to fit the smaller locks of the St Laurence up to 1959 when the Seaway opened- most of these small lakers are gone now)

None of these would fit in a typical UK canal

I never have been into Sci Fi stuff but I still enjoyed that episode on my first viewing.

The special effects were nice and so were the sounds the space shuttles were making. If I ever turn into a crazy Star Trek fan then that’s your fault.

    (Joke!)

By the time you see this comment… You probably have your faucet set.

Hope you enjoyed your day and may you have a pleasant weekend too.

I prefer women myself. I mean - well -- women. You know, those creatures with the soft curves and steely wit that can make you hurt and laugh and cry and love all at once.

    One more thing about women,

^They are all sisters. Every one of them worldwide are sisters. ^

Shhhhhh!!!! We men are supposed to be clueless about all this.

Personally though, as far as child-actress-models of the 60s/70s, I always preferred Kim Richards…. who is now Paris Hilton’s Aunt
