These great questions and answers are from the days when ’ Hollywood Squares’ game show responses were spontaneous, not scripted, as they are now. Peter Marshall was the host asking the questions, of course..
Q.. Paul, what is a good reason for pounding meat?
A. Paul Lynde: Loneliness!
(The audience laughed so long and so hard it took up almost 15 minutes of the show!)Q. Do female frogs croak?
A. Paul Lynde: If you hold their little heads under water long enough.
Q. If you’re going to make a parachute jump, at least how high should you be?
A. Charley Weaver: Three days of steady drinking should do it.
If they chucked Andy out, why did they let him keep the food?@SandfanI could be wrong about this but I seem to remember reading somewhere that even though the stars on the old “Hollywood Squares” did write their own material, they were given the questions ahead of time and came up with their one-liners that way. (Like I said, I could be wrong!)

I am blazing along at the library now and have to go to the home store to buy materials for a project we are working on. Rohn does events setup at the First Baptist Church of Ocala. -I actively keep up with A.C., Dick Tracy and Alley Oop and a little in other places. I read well over 60 comics. -Happy Tuesday to you !_______________________________________________
I think Flo should be a little more tougher on him like she used to be in the strips by Mr. Reg “Genius” Smythe.-That sounds pretty cool what Rohn does. Did you get everything you needed at the store? -I comment on Andy Capp, Calvin & Hobbes, Garfield, Marmaduke, Mutt & Jeff, Pickles, Peanuts, Pearls Before Swine and The Buckets.-They are all excellent strips.-I always have to comment on them in alphabetical order. The stupidest question to ask me would be “Why?” because I don’t know myself. LOL.-May your Wednesday be wonderful.
Speaking of “Hollywood Squares”, I used to have a book with a lot of the zingers from it. (I might have it even yet: it’s probably down in the basement with my collection of comic strip books, of which only “Peanuts” out-numbers “Andy Capp.” Well, possibly “Beetle Bailey” and “B.C.” are right up there but I think Andy beats them…….) I haven’t read it in years but always loved the jokes. It was amazing how many were by Paul Lynde. I always thought the Uncle Arthur episodes were the best “Bewitched” episodes. I’m looking forward to some more of Sandfan’s posts of the great “Hollywood Squares” zingers.

The set-up had me expecting a gag based on al fresco being a guy’s name, but they were better than that. Nice job, guys.
