To answer GMartin’s question – This is the story arc in which we meet Tom Short for the very first time. We also meet someone else who will play a very important part in Annie’s life.
Jay Maeder was the writer for Annie from June 5, 2000 to June 13, 2010. Andrew Pepoy was the artist working with Maeder from June 5, 2000 to April 1, 2001. Pepoy was then replaced by Allen Kupperberg, who stayed until July 11, 2004. Ted Slampyak then became the artist and stayed until the comic was cancelled. The comics we are reading here are re-runs from the Maeder/Kupperberg era. Today’s strip was originally printed on June 21, 2001.

Skagway’s a pretty little town. We were there two summers ago on a cruise.
