Lesson #12: DeportmentThe prospective crusader soon finds if frightfully important to have the general public on his/her side. Of course, the best way to do that is to use the individualâs powers for the good of the general public, so that the crusaderâs name is linked with good deeds â saving reporters from crashing helicopters, thwarting muggings, putting excessive toothpaste back INTO the tube, etc. Another important way is by your mannerisms when encountering the general public. Being dismissive of collateral damage, such as âI am a hero who never fails â I cannot be bothered with such details!â (S.S. Boy, Class of â64) tends to detract from that image, regardless of what good deeds are done. In the case of the prospective crusader depicted above, referring to yourself in the third person while quoting lines from patriotic tunes generally is a turn-off to most people, especially BEFORE you get around to some good deeds at the very start of your career. (Letâs face it; even kings and popes have dropped the jazz of referring to themselves by the royal âwe.â)As odd as this is going to seem (given the fact youâre going to run around in spandex and a cape), BE YOURSELF. Trust in your own personality and the calling you have. Especially around your potential sidekick.
