I was trying to follow the links posted yesterday about Gene and Mary Lou. It took a while, but I finally found the strips from 1993 where they first met. We can’t go back that far here, but we can go back to when Gene meets her again years later. Look up June 12 – July 5,1997 and Aug. 11 – Sept. 6, 2008. (I figure most everybody has already found these, but I wanted to post these dates just in case it would help someone.) Cheers, y’all!
I know Sunday strips are usually separate from the ongoing story arc, but I really wish the wedding could be in the big Sunday funnies for us to save. Anyway, I’m so looking forward to this!
Do we know where the wedding will take place? I’ve been assuming that it will be at the restaurant, (which I’ve just learned is called the Wha’s Up Dock.) Since they met on the beach, maybe they’ll have the ceremony there, with the party mostly indoors. A beach wedding could be very romantic, providing all the possible annoying variables don’t occur. (And, even if they do, so what?) The wild card possibility is the farm house. We haven’t seen it yet, have we? Still, the restaurant makes the most sense. We’ll just have to wait and see. Won’t be long now. :)
My handsome groom and I got married halfway up a mountain, after hiking there. Our friends and family were in attendance and everyone wore hiking shorts (the bride and groom topped their outfits with Hawaiian shirts). We told everyone not to buy gifts and had a potluck reception. More than one guest said it was the best wedding they’d ever been to.
Janis will be okay. She might even decide she likes the lack of unnecessary trappings.
In the story, A & J left for the coast and arrived on Friday before Labor Day, and now it’s Saturday. In real life, they packed from 8/23 until 8/27, drove from 8/28 until 9/1, arrived on 9/3, found out about the wedding “tomorrow” on 9/8, and now on 9/14 it’s finally the wedding day!
A & J sure know how to stretch a three-day weekend!

Before anybody explains, I UNDERSTAND why comic strips have to telescope time and I don’t have a problem with it, I just think it’s funny sometimes.
When I was a kid there was a summer story line on one soap opera that involved a major character getting snatched from her restaurant by an escaped zoo gorilla, carried to the top of the Delacorte Theater Tower in Central Park, and thrown from the parapet. I can’t remember EXACTLY how long it took, but I remember it took several days for him to carry her to the park, several more to climb the tower, and at least three days for her to fall to the ground. The FUNNIEST part was that on another soap, during the SAME timespan, a woman got pregnant and had a baby!

I can’t wait for the wedding! I hope J.J. drags it out for a long time. Wouldn’t it be cool if he included some flashbacks to 1993, 1997 or 2008?

She’s buying a dress in the exact same color as the tee-shirt she’s already wearing.

Funny part is, that dress she tried on is actually right up ‘dressy casual’ alley. :)

toppop52: Isn’t Nags Head rather ominous for a wedding?

Arlo is trying to keep her encouraged and positive.Good for him! Secondly, nothing ever turns out quite like we expected it to. Sometimes better.

Comic strip time can be hard to keep up with!
