The grin on Arlo’s face shows he “Gets” it.double entendre – a word or phrase open to two interpretations, one of which is usually risqué or indecent.I vote for risque.
And here I thought this was more a commentary on how Janis is willing to overlook the bad manners of a napkin tossed basketball style into the trash from several feet if it weren’t for the fact that we’re getting sick and tired of waiters trying to clear the dinner table before anybody has finished their food.
We have that problem at all-you-can-eat buffets. One of us has to guard the food while the other goes back for some little tidbit. We are both depression babies and don’t like to waste food, so we find “you can go get more” both patronizing and irresponsible.

Typical. Just something else to criticize.

Considering all the guys here who jump on non-existent nuance….
I’m surprised I’m the only one (so far) who sees any innuendo in this strip.

I seem to remember somewhere back in my memory banks that there was a baseball player who said that “Nice guys finish last.”

As I said, we are both depression babies. About the only “food” left on the plates are bones and other inedibles like shrimp exoskeletons.
