Such a choice! A new house, vs. old memories and old friends. Hmm.

Yup. Because if you go through all that and it doesn’t work out, you know Janis will make you feel like it was your fault /screwup for the rest of your life.

It’s not “an adventure” yet to Arlo. They’re switched positions on the child-or-adult scale.

We just went through this same situation. Took us a year to finally pull the trigger. It was worth it!

Is that an un-plucked chicken on the grill? A sacrifice? Arlo’s losing it?

Don’t move to be near your kids. They’ll likely up and move somewhere else and there you’ll be. Move because YOU want to be in that place

We are looking at moving when I retire to a place we can afford. It is REALLY scary. We want to move out of an apt. to a home we will be building on a LOT of land (land prices are much better where we want to move). We have selected the area, just trying to figure out what we want on the land we are buying. (trees vs. grasslands, what kind of water source, how far/close to amenities like food stores, hospitals/clinics and gas stations, how available are utilities, etc.).

As somebody that has Asperger’s Syndrome, I can relate to Arlo. Even when it is needed, I hate change.

We look forward to retiring in the next 5 years or so, selling the house here in Port Hueneme and moving up north but still staying here on the Central Coast. I have always loved that area. I was born and raised here and lived most of my life on the coast and look forward to finally having a home overlooking the beach in Cayucos or Morro Bay (about 3 hours up the coast) if we make enough money on the sale of this house (crossing my fingers!)

We moved from our hometown to a hobby farm in the north and loved it . . .for a few years. The hometown feeling never came to us and we returned after 7 years. At least we had a great time and was able to find a house that would fit into our retirement plans. We never regretted our decisions to go or to come back.Oh ya! And, YES Arlo, you can take the grill with you!
