Give it up Arlo. As I previously said. The Grammaw gene has kicked in. The kids are no longer tied to the Bistro and Meemaw is looking for spoil time! 8^ )
So theyâve had a three bedroom home all this time and only one kid. What was the guest room used for? We know Arlo doesnât spend any time in a special exercise room.
My observation is that where your kids grow up forms their expectations of what their life will be like once all grown up. I know that sounds obvious, but the obvious sometimes becomes so embedded, so institutionalized, that we lose our awareness of it.
The fact is that Gene expects his room to be there. A major adjustment is required when Mom and Dad move out into a smaller nest. Then the children have to host Mom and Dad, or whatâs left of them for the major holidays, and no longer the other way around.
The âSleeping-On-The-Couchâ thing reminded me of when my family had moved to a new house in a different state, we stayed in a hotel for a few days because the house wasnât quite ready. They got what was called a âRoll-Awayâ bed for me. When I opened it, there was an empty coin-collecting book, a coin values book, and an uncirculated Canadian 2-dollar bill (we were in the USA). That was what started me on a many-year coin-collecting hobbyâŠ
This reminds me of when my mom decided to redo her living room before my brother few home for Thanksgiving. She asked he husband to help her decide between two couches her and I were looking at. Her husband very bluntly (and very accurately) told her she was only looking for someone to agree with what she wanted and to just buy it. He knew whatâs what.

Janis may be very disappointed. The âkidsâ may not have any plans for a long visit any time soon.

some people do not take into consideration what others do to accommodate them.

No peace, Arlo, until Janis is fully accommodated.

Iâm with Arlo they need less rooms, and maybe a bigger pool room.

What with the Bistroâs failure and this, looks like A&J are being set up for another live-in family in their declining years.

Iâm seeing them fixing Geneâs room up as a place for Little Meg to sleep. But when the time comes Sheâll choose the sofa.
