I remember playing a game many many years ago — I think it was called Annie Over — where you would throw a tennis ball over the house to the player (s) on the other side. If they caught it, they would run around the house and try to hit you with the ball before you made it to the other side. There was a degree of trust involved because you didn’t know if they really caught it and you couldn’t play it if it was a fenced-in yard.
Of course, if the ball got stuck in the gutter that sort of put the kibosh on the game until someone could get a ladder.
