I’m on my fourth marriage..(third one passed or I’d still be married to her) First mom in law was great, current one is also. The two in between were the Wicked Witch’s sisters.
The “Goldbergs” episode I saw last night had a similar situation. Erica, to make her mother mad, started calling her new mother-in-law “Mom” and every time she said “Mom” for the rest of the episode, her mother thought it was for her and it was for the other one.

“Oh, BTW, my aunt is coming to visit.”
“Which ant is that?”
“I only have one aunt!”
“OK, but which ant is it?”
“My aunt!”
“Which ant?!”
“MINE!”
“WHICH!?”
“My aunt is not a witch!”
“Then who is she?”
[At this point we must leave this exchange, as it becomes rather violent, but remember… Who is on first…]

This premise was freely borrowed from an episode of the great early 50’s TV show ‘The Honeymooners’ titled ‘Hello Mom’.

“Don’t Leave Me, Fred!” in that context would have been a more controversial than usual episode of The Flintstones!
