I’m still surprised they never stopped to think Lem would extend the onions on others too. I mean, really, the idea was for him to fit in, so it makes sense he’d make than assumption. They’ve really not thought this through very well. Had their eyes too much on the prize that they overlooked the finer details.
Now wait a minute, wait a minute, just realized I nearly missed something here…“there’s only a few hours left,” eh? They’re on a time limit of some kind, which then begs the question of what kind. Time for a launch window? Time until certain needed power sources run out? Time until the mothership leaves? Time until Lem is somehow no longer useful to them, or his hypnotism ceases to work? Time until all those onions the kids have eaten reaches critical mass and they’re all suddenly too sick to work?
