Yes friends, the News Paper has carried us through many an early morning and cloudy day. It has both frightened us (the war years) and entertained us, educated us and stupefied us. If it were to dissappear, Mrs Tubbsbottl and I would not go easily into that dark night!

My sister took my sons (around Gracie’s age) to her friend’s house. My youngest looked around and asked in total disbelief what was there to read? He couldn’t comprehend a household without reading material!!
When I was in High School, I was forced to learn about each and every thing on the newspaper in English class. I think it was so stupid to learn about the newspaper in English class but I had to do it and passed. I only wished that I could learn how to do the essay and so forth. But I didn’t. Rolled my eyes up/down. I was glad that I knew what all of those newspaper were about. Good grief! :-[
I truly miss newspapers. The little one in our town only carries a couple of stories off the wire and they are at least 2 days old. The rest is local gibber and not even any decent comics. And paying for mail deliver just seems pointless. Ahh well. (sigh)
I LOVE the newspaper and read the Washington Post daily. You can sit it down and get back to it later, take it into the bathroom with you, fall asleep with it across your chest, discipline the dog, line the brids’ cage, roll it up and give it to the cat to play with, make paper hats for the grandchildren, etc. In addition, if you compare your newspaper with the online edition, in my experience, you get articles, pictures, etc. in the paper that you don’t get online.
I love a daily newspaper, but, alas, living in the toolies we either have to subscribe to the “big city” newspaper on line or get it in the mail–2 or 3 days later, if we’re lucky.
I’m going to miss all that newsprint to wash off every morning!
Yep, they are going bye-bye, one after the other. My local paper is down to two skinny sections, and the Detroit papers are cutting back to 3 days a week delivery. And it is not just daily papers- my trade rags are mainly web-only at this point, and even US News & World Report has cut back to a monthly printed issue, with only the ‘feature’ articles. For real news, you are expected to go to their web site. I sent them a letter pointing out CNN site was free, so not much reason for me to renew when my sub expires. And what are people without broadband supposed to do?
