When my teen son stayed home sick he was not allowed to play video games until after the time he would normally get home from school, I made that rule to make sure that he wouldn’t try to stay home just to play games and I had a similar rule growing up except mine was that I couldn’t go outside. Boy have times changed!
I had to deal with several leg infections over the past year and it follows the same pattern every time, I wake up shivering, running a high fever, and totally exhausted. For the first day or so in the hospital I’m so tired I can barely move, and even though it wouldn’t require much effort to play my tablet games I can’t even move or focus enough to turn my tablet on, much less play a game. If Baldo has enough energy to sit up and play a video game he’s not that sick, no matter what level he’s playing at.

time to send Baldo to school with an excuse note (and once the muchacho gets to the school, the principal’ll issue an after-school detention)

Depends on your definition of something “being sick”.

I was only allowed to stay home from school if I had a fever or something coming out of me.

If he is well enough to play, he’s well enough to sit in class. As long as he is not contagious.
