Hola Marg, JFri y los otros Locos!
We are okay here in Brownsville. We got lots of rain and it’s still raining right now. It’s still coming in heavy at times and then it tapers off. We did have a couple of tornadoes, but not close to us. I was watching the weather channel, they really did sensationalize the whole thing way too much. This was actually the tamest hurricane I have been through.
Dry I found the perfect one to fall asleep in front of.
Baldo reminds me of my trip to town yesterday. I had a hankering for fish and chips. As I was eating, 2 women and a man entered the cafe, all extremely obese. As they entered one of the women joked about them sitting at a table with extremely wide chair bottoms. Their chairs had to be close to four feet back from the table. I left before their order arrived, but one began with a huge float and another with a large cold drink topped with whipped topping.
Hola Dry y Cleo!Dry, yes, Jim Cantore is guilty as charged.
It’s a lovely day here today. It’s partly cloudy with a nice breeze blowing through, 84 degrees.
I love to watch, shall we say LARGE, people in the grocery stores. Love to see what they have in their cart. It never ceases to amaze me! And quite a few are on the “dole” if you know what I mean.
Dry, I too like to look at what is in the carts of the obese. Usually it is filled with boxed dinners that you throw in the microwave or boil in a bag on the stove. But they are looking after their weight with their cases of diet soda. LOL
I fell asleep to The Ruth Rendell mysteries “Simisola.”
Carmy should I ruin Cleo and JFri’s day by telling them that starting tomr. the temps will be in the high 80’s and low 90’s, clear skies, hot but not humid until next Thurs., And I’m on vacation! YIPPEE!!!!
Dry, yes, tell JFri and Cleo that.
I’ll be back in a few. My brother just called from Chicago, his flight was delayed. He will be here later this afternoon.
Cleo, I don’t set out anymore to purposely get a tan. My tan comes naturally from being outdoors. Back in my younger (?) years, I would lay out for a tan, but no longer. And this one will be a staycation. Hoping to go white water rafting before summer is over however.
Our temps. don’t seem to be able to crawl out of the low 60s. It is gray here today at was only 46 early this morning. I am thinking of taking a drive to La Connor just to get out of this funk.
Carmy when I was 10 and a year or two after, I had the BIGGEST CRUSH on Dean Martin, I loved him, his movies, his songs, his TV show, just loved him, then I got a crush on his son Dino. You are probably just a little too young to remember “Dino, Desi, and Billy”.
So who’s bugging you, Tabby? We’ll git ‘em!!!
Glad that all is well, Carmy.
Dry, speaking of obese on the dole: I worked with a woman at the race track one summer who was getting food stamps and free food from our local Food Pantry. Yes, she was obese, and she brought two coolers full of food every day. She had money to fly to CA to visit her alcoholic boy toy, and spent a lot of time on her cell phone etc. I’m sorry to say that every time the local Food Pantry asks for donations, I think of her, and think of how I could better donate my money.
Food Pantry’s should do better screening before they pass out free food. People get away with that here too. I often wonder if the Salvation Army does any screening.
My soap that I watch when I come home from work was pre-empted for the next 2 days for Wimeldon Coverage. CAN YOU IMAGINE??? :-P on NBC
I’ve been watching that soap for 45 years from day 1 when I was little!
I went out to water, where’d everybody go? No Cleo Tennis is NOT more important! You think withdrawals are bad when you can’t get on the internet? Mine are worse when I can’t see my soap. If it ever gets cancelled, I don’t know what I will do with myself!!! :-(
What do I do when I watch my soap? Relax, enjoy the characters I have come to know, live in a fantasy world for an hour, drink a beer, and then get back to real life!
Yeah Dry, so you can do the same thing, just close your eyes and create a fantasy world, or as in the next day or two, you can fantasize about tennis players. Nyuk, nyuk!
Thanks Marg! We’re glad it wasn’t near as bad as predicted also.
I used to hate when I couldn’t watch my soaps. Luckily, I quit watching years ago and I don’t miss them at all.
Dry, the storm is over, but there is still rain here and there. It’s normal rain though, not monsoon rain. My brother arrived later than expected, the weather caused the delay.
LilG got a call from her mom who is visiting LilG’s bro in CA, so I am on hold. Dry in all the time of watching your soap has more than a year passed in TV time? snerk, snuckle, snerf!
Carmy catch him when he is asleep, stick ice cubes into his jammies, place a water bucket above his bedroom door, then blame other relatives. I can say this because I have had so much experience in these matters as an only child.
Cleo, it’s too late to mess with my bro. Consider how hold he is. Twelve years older than me! The only way I can mess with him is with mind games. It will have to wait until tomorrow though, he’s went sleepers because he was really tired.
I have two cousins that are my “sisters” and we talk weekly. Before I met LilG we talked twice a week, plus I have another “brother” who is actually married to another cousin that I talk to 6 times a week. So I do not have real siblings but these are probably closer than most peoples actual siblings.
Stay away from the drugs, Dry!Cleo! Don’t make me…!!
My brother turned 61 last month.
Hey, I forgot to tell you all (I think) that I yapped with my best friend from when i was about 5 all the way through high school and even after. Her mom lives next door to my mom. We grew up together.
Cleo, you are probably right about the closeness. A lot of siblings spend all their time fighting and holding grudges, and I’d like to shake the “shize” out of them!
Carmy that is cool. I have no friends from that far back, except my two cousins that I previously mentioned, but I guess they don’t count, even though they are friends. We moved to much to continue friendships, unfortunately.
Cleo, I never said anything about borrowed time. My thoughts are, “you’re as young as you feel.” Age is just a number.
Dry, it was really nice to see her again. We both said the same thing, “you look the same, but you sound different.”
Carmy usually its the other way around, you sound the same, but you look WAY different! I think I told you I ran into a girl I graduated with on one of my walks, and I felt really good when I left, because she looked OLD, older than me, but she was in good health, so, I guess she aged different than me, at least looks wise,
I celebrated by not doing anything! Mom had a red and white cake for lunch for celebration, and everyone got a pen with Canada and maple leaves on it. So I got one too when I visited her.
When I see old friends, they say I look the same, but I seldom recognise them!
Shika, a number of years ago I spent July 1st in the east coast of Canada in Alexander Graham Bell’s community and took part in a small town celebration. It was so much fun. Did you have fun today?
Carmy, I don’t need a holiday to set off fireworks!!
Cleo If you guys where here, I’d have fun. I felt funny going to the lake alone for the fireworks. I jsut saw families and teenagers. I don’t know where my sister was.
I love the Canadian Maple Leaf. I have collected earrings, braclet, suncatchers, etc. when I’ve been In Ontario, Man I miss Canada! Last time I was there, it was no big deal crossing the border. I imagine it’s a “pain in the butt” to do so now.
This doesn’t happen so much with friends, but I will meet someone and after looking at them and talking to them I will think that they are ancient, only to find out that they are younger than me, but staying thin, allowing your musical interests to remain flexible and not getting caught up in your favorite era can do a lot to make one seem younger than one’s years. Oh…and eating healthy foods. Plus, of course, a daily diet of Booker’s.
Cleo Brantford Ontario has his house too. LOL He has more than one home!
Gee, thanks for remembering guys! I need to get to bed. I am not as young at heart as you all seem to be. Or maybe the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak….
