Hola Shika, coyote & roadrunner! Many hours are between JFri & Dry, Shika, that is why they both still live. snerk
We went to an art show down on Fir Island today that was held in a community grange and it is one of the best that I have been to in a long time. Than we drove up Chuckanut Drive and ate at the Oyster Bar overlooking Bellingham Bay. I had some of the best Halibut that I have had since I can’t remember when. It had a peanut and honey crust and was served with a citrus glaze. LilG had mussels with crisp shallot and a wonderful Potato and Leeks soup with wild mushrooms and a gnocchi crouton. This was the first time I got the chance to drive her new car, talk about power.
By the way, these oysters come from Taylor Shellfish, which is less than half a mile from the restaurant, so I can stop there after lunch and take the oysters home and shuck them. On top of that, I like both oysters and sashimi with no sauce, so I would be spending $27 dollars extra for what I can do in minutes.
Dry, I rarely go to a restaurant and have something that I could just as easily do at home. This restaurant charges $33 for a dozen oysters on the half shell. I can go to the actual shellfish market (on the water where they are harvested) and pick up a dozen of the same oysters for six bucks, take them home and shuck them myself in ten minutes. If I go out to eat, I want to have either something that I wouldn’t think to make or something that is very time consuming.
We are talking good eating Dry! I also like all of those, although I had a long pause of disliking escargot. I have mentioned it to you that I had it served in a restaurant where they hadn’t cooked it and it was unbelievably bad (think slug).
70’s tmr! WOO HOO! I get my work clothes out the night before, had to change from a sweater to a tshirt! I have a zip up sweatshirt at work in case they are wrong, but I don’t think so. It’s 55 outside now!
Yep, and I’m wearing my whitewater rafting tshirt, jeans and a tshirt, not reall dressy, but I work with farmers and contractors, so if I don’t dress up for a day, so what? I still look good! ;-)
Now it’s about time for JFri to jump in and burst my bubble! ;-D
He won’t have long though, cuz I’m heading out soon.
