I remember Basset. Cleo was zooming willy-nilly through the streets of San Francisco without a homeless person in sight. And the streets were clean, unlike today.

Stel, I really don’t think bassets should be driving those hot machines.

    Hello friends…

I’m afraid I have a very sad announcement to make… but for once in my life I’m tongue-tied, and I don’t know what to say.

I’ve been staring at this comment box since the turn…. so I guess I just have to say it.

My dear great friend x_Tech…. so brilliant, so funny, and the kindest person you could ever hope to meet,

passed away, in the afternoon of Monday, June 24th, at the way-too-young age of 71.

It’s hard to write about…. I’m still in shock, and hardly able to believe it.

But I do know he’s gone… after a very difficult week in ICU with pneumonia, never regaining consciousness.

(That’s where I’ve been disappearing to all week.)

Only a few of you may know that we were very close…. spending many hours a week online and on the phone,

but rarely seeing each other in person, due to various constraints.

He taught me a lot, especially about courage, tolerance, and uncomplaining patience….

He loved everyone here, and never had a negative word for anyone.

    I’ll miss him terribly.

Susan I am so sorry for your loss. I know you two were quite good friends! Nothing anyone can say will ease your pain but you are in my prayers as is he.

Dearest Susan….I’m still stunned and so sad since you told me last night. Even though you had been updating me in the last week, I always hoped he’d rally ’round.

I sure will miss him dearly…….I remember him teaching all of us how to post pictures and links on Citizen Dog way back in……2012?I’ve been enjoying his witty comments and tech knowledge since ’09! He helped me so many times with tech questions, of which therewere many. He always said to get rid of my Antique Browser (still using the same one, X !).

And, he never failed to send me YouTube links to John Oliver every Monday!

He was a smart, kind, funny and gentle soul. The comments won’t be the same without him……… [sniff] . I’ve saved his avatar picture to reminisce.

Saucy I hear what you said up above, “we’ve lost so many GC friends over the years”, we have indeed! Lewreader, Linda Dean, Dazz, Carmy and now x_Tech!

Candi and Susan, I wish I had had the privilege of knowing X-tech the way you did. I know he was a generous and clever commenter, for you he was much more.
