If our dogs hear a cat on the TV, they immediately sprint out into the back yard to chase it off.

Confound it, Claude. Don’t you hate it when they get in the express lane for a root canal?

My son went back to my regular dentist. Our hygienist told him that the one he’d been seeing was just doing a drive-by cleaning. Several visits later, his teeth are finally in good shape again. That’s why we’ve been going to this dentist for so many years — quality work and still at the top of his profession.

Bowser and Stanley love this game. It’s even more fun when they’re out for their walk.

    Hi, everybody…

    I’m back, for the

July 1st  2020 “CLEO and COMPANY!” … on Sherpa

Today’s strip would almost fit right in with the prevailing mode of life under quarantine…

We have drive-up prepared food, either through the usual window, or delivered to the parking lots of normally sit-down restaurants.

“Curbside” pick-up of groceries and other purchases…

Which really means “parking lot” pick-up, in these days of strip malls and big box stores.

I mean, when was the last time you went to a store on a public street, where you parked at the curb out front?

No… a curb on the edge of a parking lot doesn’t count.

And of course, in many communities, cars wait in long lines so the occupants can be tested for Covid-19.

Long before this virus… I’d sometimes idle my car in a long line, waiting to get a space at some flea market or other….

At one popular spot, years ago, the line sometimes formed during the previous night… and didn’t move till the gate opened at 7 am. .

You might doze in your car for 5 hours, start to inch forward at 6:30… get to the gate at 7:30… and find all the spaces sold out.

All the years I was a “precinct inspector” … what most states seem to call an “election judge” (neither name makes sense)….

I sat a line of cars to pick up or turn in ballots and booths and other voting materials, a few days before, and the night after, every election…

People do that here on “toxic waste” collection days, as well.

Half a can of paint, a few dead batteries and an old bottle of nail polish… you can’t really drop off leftovers from Chernobyl.

Meanwhile… can this dentist and various assistants actually reach into your mouth from outside the car windows?

I don’t trust a dentist with rubbery 10 ft long arms… it’s like an Alfred Hitchcock story.

Good to see you back, Susan. I missed your snappy comments and groaners. And most of all, your history lessons.

I guess this drive-in dentist is the only one who allows dogs in the procedure car. Unless Cleo is a Therapy Dog, then she’d be allowed. But, it’d be harder to sneak in a Therapy Horse. But maybe for a root canal…………………

Don’t tease him! You know what happens when you guys walk and he sees that cat. Last time she broke the leash and you had to chase him all the way to N.E. Ballard.

Remember going through the blackberry bushes?

Claude should have sent his false teeth through the mail to the dentist. It wouldn’t have taken as long. Definitely not as long as it’s gonna take to fix Sherpa. Sometime in the next century.

The original cartoon had it being a. drive -through prostate check, An idea whose time has come. But in the end, it seemed a bit much, Even for Cleo and Company.
