Martin’s topic this evening will be “Speaking Without Notes”

He’s carefully re-examining his notes…. as he will start by announcing that during his speech, he will only allow himself one or two peeks at them per page …no, paragr … better say sentence.One or two peeks at his notes per sentence.

Muriel is happily puttering in the kitchen, waiting, unseen, to hear Martin deliver the speech he’s been practicing all week in the bathroom mirror.She pictures him, standing tall, with that look of determination…. and is ready to prompt him, should he falter, as she knows every word by heart.

Chet, meanwhile, will be half listening to Martin, and half mentally rehearsing his speech…“The Aspects of Speaking at a Speaker’s Club Meeting.”

Randy will not speak tonight … but he’ll be taking copious notes… in ink! for his own speech next Friday…. “Taking Notes.”

After both speeches, they will enjoy a refreshing beverage and watch videos kindly provided by Ms. Beviek.

And speaking of videos….

Just a tip for those who post them.

Some of the videos “suggested” by links at the ends of posted ones have proved inappropriate for this site…and GoComics moderators may or may not hold the poster responsible for that.

Even if you check yours, and see nothing questionable, the suggestions for other people can be different, based on their own viewing and searches.

You can eliminate doubt by clicking a little box to clear it, before copying the “embed” code…

That table-top dancer is a thirty year old guy from Pattaya.

I have had a few problems with the “Submit” button, but mostly just a delay…. and BTW, I’ve learned the hard way…or at least, the silly way….. that clicking the button a second or third time can actually double or triple your post.

(NOT like the doubling of your posts you see if you hit “refresh comments” without refreshing the whole page.That one is a mirage…. only visible to YOU, and goes away next time you do refresh the page.)

Then again, I never hit the “reply” button … it seems to cause various glitches, and I prefer to type in the person’s name myself anyway.

I’ll try to test it later …. just in case I notice anything. I will say that pages full of embedded videos slow my computer, even more than pictures, and make scrolling almost impossible for quite a while after opening or refreshing them.

On my phone it sometimes IS impossible, though I think it’s improving since a recent Android update.

It makes no sense, as it’s just a bit of code… but that’s what happens.

Sorry… I was forgetting some people embed with a right-click.

Under the video on YouTube there’s a “Share” button…. when you click it, there’s an “Embed” button….

Click that and you get the embedding dialogue.

I’m not sure about other sites, like Flixy, etc… but on most, it seems, you can click “Watch on You Tube” and then link or embed the You Tube one.

I prefer usually not to use reply unless I intend that the answer is only for that person. Still, if it is late, it’s better NOT to use it because the comments using reply do NOT show as the last comment posted (you ONLY see by viewing all comments).

I keep strange, usually very late, hours…. and I may not answer questions in order…. so sometimes it takes a while, but I try to get there.LOL

What time zone are you in?I’m Pacific time in the US.

Dazz, I have never seen a “reply” comment on this site end up anywhere but last.

Other sites “thread” them…. ie attach them to the original comment… but not GoComics, unless others are having a different experience.

That’s another reason I can’t be bothered… they look the same anyway.

I think the embedded videos are impressive, but I like to just open UTube in a new tab from a link (as I did in the past). That way I could listen to the music while continuing to read comments.

But would he get a word in with this one?
