Poor Nelson, he doesn’t even get to pick out his own clothes. Margaret is particularly fond of Ballard Check, and makes sure he wears some form of it every day. He has checked shirts, checked shorts, checked socks etc. Nelson is too timid to tell her that he hates checks. He thinks it reminds him of a picnic tablecloth, and we all know about that time when he was ten at the annual town picnic. People still whisper about it.
I’m still concerned that Nelson is going to do himself an injury and tip that cup over into the socket…perhaps if I drop off my extra tea pot with warming stand, he’ll use that instead of the lamp.I’ve got to get some sleep now, so nighty-night to anyone who wanders by…
Munky says he thinks he missed me the other night. Good thing he doesn’t remember that he caught me once! But since it was his birthday, I won’t say anything about that….:-D
@ ShikamooThanks! She ate better today so I’m hoping she gets her strength back soon.
@ HappyI love the “Tea Lights” & and the wee bunny in a tea cup!
@ BevThat’s the way I always react to coffee…I’m mesmerized!
Looks as if Nelson has dropped a bit of weight since I saw him last in June. That dinosaur incident on Brian’s B-day must have convinced him to start jogging again in case he ever needs to make a quick get-away.
And speaking of Birthdays…I seem to have missed quite a lot of them! I started reading past comments and only got as far back as Susan Sunshine’s Birthday in April… so,
big>A Belated Happy Birthday to Susan,X_Tech,Veteran, Shikamoo, Storm, pcolli,& most recently Sheriff Munky Bluz! Sorry I missed ALL your parties. My apologies to anyone else I missed!
I brought a tray of pastries for those whose B-days I missed!
Ah yes. Nancy with her china and glass ensemble. I suppose the Ballard Street ‘Bull Pen, China and Crystal Boutique’ does a brisk business with folks like Nelson and Nancy about.
And Thank you!As for the not-so-secret birthday list….We try to keep the birthdays a surprise, which obviously can’t work too well, as anybody we surprised two years in a row probably has a few small suspicions….. Still, as they take a lot of planning, we can’t promise to do every birthday….so far it has usually worked out…but as the invitation, the cake, the food and some of the greetings can take hours or even days, we don’t publicize a list of who should expect birthdays.NO one should! We may not know when it is, or even if we’ve celebrated it before, it _could_fall at a time when everybody is too busy.Or if someone has been away, isn’t a Ballard Street “regular” any more, or simply never answers any e-mail, or never wishes other people a “happy birthday” even when notified, we may consider dropping their celebration.Several of us do keep a list, though, of the birthdays we know of….gathered from those who’ve mentioned their birthdays here, e-mailed us, or found another way to tell us.What we do is email those who seem interested in knowing when a party is about to happen. If you’d like to be on the e-mail list, or want to write me, and possibly connect with others, with their permission, you can find my address posted on the “Agnes” comic strip forum for June 6th 2006. (6-6-06)That applies to anyone else here who wants my address.

I hear Nelson likes to cook with light bulbs. He has blueberry muffins baking inside in his vintage Easy Bake.

My “tea lamp” doesn’t actually contain tea, so it isn’t likely to electricute anyone if jostled….

I love all the tea lights, BEV and HAPPY. The last cup and saucer with a bunny is the cutest though.

BEV, that ‘marine animal’ looks like an “army” or “air-force” animal.

Seems as if people on Ballard Street use cups and saucers in random and reckless ways. I suppose they have to buy new ones fairly often…

I think everyone is worn out from Munky’s party! I can still hear Munky snoring somewhere, although I thought he had left.

Hey, thanks, Annette, and anyone else who wondered….or called…. or wrote…and to Bev for reporting.
I was very sleepy last night…didn’t even comment here, and tried to go to bed early… for me… which is still pretty late.
So of course…. I get awakened by an elephant rummaging under the house… no….. a bear?
What? We don’t have elephants, or even bears, but for a looong half a minute or so, my bed was shaking hard in all directions…. whee….
Oh…. I see… it’s just an earthquake… OK…..yawn….
So, I’m fine. We’re a bit too blasé about earthquakes here in N. Cal….been there, done that…
Damage to property is common in a fairly wide area in a quake of this magnitude (6.1), but few people this far away (30 miles) actually get hurt.
Luckily, only a few things fell down and AFAIK, only one broke.
And I’m back on Ballard St…no Bandaids. LOL
