Is it me, or are these strips getting just a little too contemporary for B.C.?

If you don’t already know it, look up the origins of the name. It’s quite interesting.

You guys need to stop over thinking a comic strip and that’s what it is a comic strip. Enjoy it.

Wiley’s Dictionary has always posted definitions that are current to the times…our times, technology and all. And as I needn’t belabor, B.C. has always been delightfully anachronistic overall.

Is ‘Curls’ losing his hair? He seems to have a lot less.

He’s got less hair and a bigger schnoz — and ‘cute chick’ doesn’t look nearly as cute anymore either …….

@ drwatson- Your right, the origin of the name Bluetooth is interesting. Always wondered about the logo design.

I guess Fred Flintstone lived in the same present-day location, where dinosaurs and mammoths still roam the earth and people dress in skins and write on stone slabs… After all, he watched television and talked on the telephone, didn’t he?

And it’s pure coincidence that Johnny Hart named the strip after the character who just happens to have the initials “B.C.” and has never stated what those initials stand for. Calling the strip “Brian Chesterton” or something would have taken too long to write out, after all. Why, he was probably thisclose to calling the strip “Peter” or “Thor”; it couldn’t possibly be that he chose the initials B.C. to indicate that the strip takes place Before Christ, and then decided to give one of the characters those initials. He might just as sensibly have named the character Jack or Willie and titled the strip “J.C.” or “W.C.”

And the logo being carved into rock? Just a stylistic choice. Yeah, the strip takes place in the present day…

Actually, B. C. is his given name. His last name is E.

It’s a good thing that the baby that Sophie hangs out with is named Doug, because “Dog Eat Phil” would be a terrible name for a strip.

Curls has less hair and Cute Chick is less cute - and indeed, Fat Broad is more matronly. Well, age happens to us all, even when we’re anachronistic cavemen. :)

Oh, and as for why the name “Bluetooth” was picked? ThinkGeek has an interesting explanation:
