If you have nothing to say, make it flashy.

In the Jurassic Age I took notes with different colours. Black for the prof speaking, green for my annotations, purple for summaries and red for citations. Helped a lot. Still do, but on a computer, with a different colour scheme. I am so glad Mr Jobs dropped out and took calligraphy classes.

The act of writing a note allowed me to retain what I was learning. I rarely (never) reviewed my notes.

I got through two undergraduate degrees, two master degrees, a PhD in Thermal Dynamics and a Medical degree that way.

Even today I will write things down, but the note is not as important as the action of writing it. I can’t use an IPad or computer and type notes, it seems the pen to paper is important for my process.

I’m sure that others have processes that work for them as well as mine does for me. Heck, at my age, I can barely read my own chicken scratching.

    Kind regards
