In my house this would be very serious. It means no access to my finances, my medical records and appointments, my club friends, and no way to reconstruct the data without many hours of work, and no way to pay bills or for friends and relatives to make contact. All for no good reason!
Going off the grid only makes sense if you have fully planned to do it, and have a good reason to.
