not really, no. not for me anyway. i’m generally up until at least 2 am (eastern), but i don’t usually wake up until 9 or 10 am, since i’m on a steady afternoon shift. if you’re looking for a name, maybe something with a west coast monster slant? i don’t know if you could work sasquatch or ogopogo or something in there. just a thought, but it’s late enough that i’m not at my best.

It is a beautiful day here as well. i just got back from my third trip to town in as many days. Company is coming this afternoon and will stay for dinner.

Quit raining here, now it’s cloudy, with a nice warm breeze!

good afternoon to all who are left. after the late night (even for me) last night, i was up at the crack of dawn (okay, 9:30), took 2 minutes to set my VCR to record the soccer match and went back to bed. didn’t get up again until past 2pm, and watched the game then. it’s been dingy and dull all afternoon. hope everyone’s teams all were victorious (as much as possible, anyway).

can’t stay too long today. i’m going to play poker tonight. not really a poker player, but my brother is hosting and it’s a night out, at least. i played at a stag a month or so back, and only lasted four hands - though i’m sure i’ll do much better tonight (for one thing, i’ll start out with a lot more chips thanks to different rules).

special note to Drycula i promise to finish tagging my NY photos by tomorrow night, at the latest, and will then immediately try to figure out a non-facebook way to share.

and my nephews and nieces will attest to the fact that i don’t break promises.

and since i seem to be the only one left, i’ll take my leave.

I haven’t played poker since I was in my 20’s. My girlfriend and I had come home from camping for the winter in the Florida Keys. We were followed home by a Canadian fellow that we became friends with down there. After sponging off my parents for as long as we could, they kicked us out over an uproar over a heart’s game. We went back to camping, in a state park on Puget Sound, while looking for a house to all share. We would sit at our picnic table playing poker. I would have a jug of Platte Valley Corn Liquor, my girlfriend vodka and our friend had a bottle of scotch. A campfire was our only light and a raccoon liked to sit in the branches of a Douglas Fir and watch our card game. Good times and great memories. Our friend moved permanently up here and we all shared a house until my girlfriend met someone else.

cool story, corpskaya. i haven’t played regularly since high school, and back then it was five card draw, not hold-em. should be fun, though. (and since it’s time for me to leave…)

The fresh bread sounds delicious, Corpskaya Do you knead it by hand or do you have a bread machine? My husband uses two machines - otherwise we run out too quickly. I used to do it the old fashioned way - for many years - but the old hands don’t work so well any more cackle, cackle…

Tombtabby you have, unfortunately , spurred me on to do my own vacuuming. Blast you (not really girl - you work too hard!)

Dawn of the Dead - I make it the old fashioned way. I was making baguettes and I use baguette trays which hold the dough in a little trough with holes in it so the bread stays thin. My tray allows me to make 3 loaves at once, but I only had enough dough left for 2.

Why thank you, Drycula - I am a beauty! But my little hummingbird visited me this morning and came up to the window when he couldn’t find food. We took down our feeder while we were away and I haven’t put one up again since we will be gone again in a couple of months. They winter over but really depend on feeders so I will have to let the neighbors know that he’s around.

I just checked the score! DAM it! Penn State gets way too much credit for being a good team! And JoePa doesn’t care what his players do off the field, he lets them play even if they’ve been arrested for drugs, drunk driving, assault, etc. so long as he can keep his players in there to win a game! (Crouching and hiding as my life is in danger now around these here parts!*

Apparently gocomics also likes Penn State and JoePa also, because I have tried three times now to bold that statementt, and it doesn’t work!
