UNFAIR! I wake at midnight and naturally the first thing in mind is BT. So I go rushing to the den only to find BT still on Saturday. OK, I’ll just waste a little time at The Onion. I come back to BT and LONEWOLF not only has posted breakfast 18 comments before me, he’s done a better job than I would have. Oh, I realize he has missed some morning essentials like FluffERNutters, but at least he has DOC’S WORLD FAMOUS NUCLEAR COFFEE which I don’t have. Sir, may I please have a cup?

.Morning TRIBE!.I am bringing SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED to one of the country’s most famous rose gardens for a picnic. If one were to ask, “Why go to a rose garden in August?” I would have to reply, “Have you ever seen Morticia Adams with roses?”

God really hates me. WhenLONEWOLF didn’t bring my coffee immediately to my table (desk) I decided to brew my own. Not being an insomniac like the usual BT poster, I proceeded to pour my water directly into the grounds. Tastes like memories of Aunt Tillie’s coffee (one tsp year old coffee per guest). Why me Lord?

Grog, I’ve got quite a bit right here at the house, not to mention my other venue I told you about. So my hours are pretty full also. The rain is killing me right now though.

I can tell, when you haven’t been here as often as you used to. But then it’s good to be busy. I’m glad you and Doc are getting some work hours in.

I’m salaried. I get paid whether I work ‘em or not and don’t get paid for OT.

Rmom, I tend to sleep better with background noise I am used to. Usually movies or cartoons.

Luv - Ah, now I understand. I was trying to think of a 3-D object playing. I don’t sleep well with music, etc. but I do need a “white noise” like a fan or motor running.

Grog, that is probably why it only works well with things I’ve seen several times.

I’v always had a hard time falling to sleep. Since someone broke in at night I often have a small TV on. However, some light at night is not good for your eyes. I let it turn off after awhile or switch to radio.

Luv That’s the only problem I have with it, I keep waking up on the 8s.

Sojo - It isn’t very exciting footage. My hubby & son didn’t even want to bother watching it.

I have been considering seeing if I could find a way to just listen without the light. One of the problems is I usually wake up as soon as the noise stops. The lady who administered thre test noticed the same thing.

I think I am awake enough to try to get this flop out of my hair. I really want a nap though. Be back later.

LuvH8 - I have used eye covers or whatever you call them. The first one was cheap and didn’t feel good. Got a better one and it was fine but took some getting used too. As I can’t find it will need to buy another one!

WARNING - Factoid! If you don’t get complete darkness at night (I.e. a nightlight etc.) your rods or cones (I don’t remember which or both) don’t completely recover and may lead to a certain kind of eye disease.

Luv - My mom (after she had the stroke) would after fall asleep during a Gaither music video. She wouldn’t wake up when it was over, unless there was a loud sound at the end of the DVD. Thankfully, not every DVD she had would do that, but it was irritating to us caregivers when she’d wake up early. It is a good idea to learn to sleep with a (steady) light on. My mom just had to have it completely dark to sleep. Okay at home, not so good in a semi-private room in hospital or nursing facility.

Sojo - Hadn’t heard that factoid before, but I’ve heard that not wearing sunglasses when you’re out in the sun can lead to macular degeneration.

Rmom - The factoid may apply mostly (or be most likely) for those that are diabetic. It’s something to think about even if you aren’t. Eye covers allow some light on like you mentioned as they can allow you to see easily if you want to.

Sojo - Diabetics are at risk for a huge list of problems. I had a friend who was a severe diabetic. She had a long list of the various health issues she had as a result. I would think as long as it isn’t brighter than starlight wouldn’t be too bad, but I have heard that light from computer & TV screens right before you go to bed might make it harder to sleep.

Rmom - I remember reading a study about 2nd and 3ed shift workers. It said the best way to sleep was to have a TV on low volume. I would worry about comercials being put into my subconscious! LOL

Especially since the commercials are always way louder than the program.

When I have the TV on, I put it on TCM. No commercials.

Grog Some stations are really bad about that. What about the FCC law against that? My next TV will be one that automatically controls the volume.

I find if the TV or radio is on, my mind doesn’t shut off as quickly, compared to just having white noise. However, taking a warm bath and reading can be very relaxing.

Once when I needed sleep I used at least 4 herbs for sleeping, using them together and at least double the amount for each to make tea (and boiling them in water a long time). I was reading as I drank it. As I was finishing the cup I started getting sleepy. Walking to the bedroom, still dressed, as I got to the bed I fell on the bed face down. The next thing I remembered was waking up still laying sideways and facedown on the bed 12 hours later! I use to do a lot of stupid things, not as much now I hope. :-)

Sojo - Sounds like some powerful herbs!

They wern’t suppose to be used together. I didn’t think they would really work well so made the extra strong drink. Boy was I wrong!

Correction: It’s been another record breaking day of heat in Wichita. At 3:06, the temperature reached 109 at Mid-Continent Airport. That breaks the old record for this date, set in 1964. The temperature could climb even more before the day is over.

Boy, am I glad to stay inside the a/c! Now, I’ve got to figure out how to get one of my sons to fetch the mail…

Rmom that’s just too hot. I like warm but not quite that much.

Serena - I agree. I like it warm enough to not need a jacket, but not this hot! But at least central a/c is common in buildings here, and unless one has a “beater” car, a/c there too. What is bad is those people who have to work out in the heat.

Grog - I noticed that the mods are taking them down, usually after that page of comments is filled or we’re on the next day. My guess is that they take too much storage space for them to leave them up indefinitely. As long as they don’t ban her for putting them up, I can understand. I’m somewhat surprised they left the ones I posted on 7-31’s Elderberries up. I don’t plan to post pictures embedded in the comment section often, but am glad to know how for those occasional times.

Grog & Dry - I noticed your Fellow Baby did confuse someone, but I forgot where I saw it. Ladyhawk - From what I picked up from Joe’s posts before he got banned, it sounds like the mods warned him before he got banned. I would think they’d do that for Kab as well. They do have a legitimate reason for not keeping them up, as I know from other sites that storage space can get expensive.

Well, my plans just changed. Hubby wants me to go for a ride with him. Thank goodness the truck has a/c!

LuvH8 - Thanks, I download the latest version a few days ago that just came out (had an earlier version). When I took a quick look at the operating systems I didn’t see Windows 7. Either they just released it or it wasn’t listed wher I looked (or I missed it). It’s nice to know they do have it. As they seem to make it for everything else I knew they would have to have it sometime!
