Talk Like A Pirate Day came to my attention a few years ago. I’d recently purchased a computer game called “Sid Meier’s ‘Pirates’”, and was spending an inordinate amount of time swashing buckles across the Caribbean. Parts of the game involve textual interaction, and on Sep. 19th that year, what had been King’s English suddenly became Piratese. It befuddled me for the rest of the game session, and the next day it was back to normal. I eventually heard about TLAPD, and found it quite amusing in retrospect. As I’m sure you will…eventually.

Howdy hymenoxis! On last year’s TLAPD, I commented like a pirate here on GoComics. Some other people did also, but not too many.

Thanks. I’ll check into those when I get home. I’m just looking for something to load into the laptop for field reference. The Meade LX200 can be connected to and controlled by a computer, but I’m not sure the LX90 can. I’m still using the on-board go-to guidance.

hymenoxis - The programs are more of intrest. For programs for locations of objects you might need to google them.

hymenoxis - Astronomy magazines might also have ads for programs that you are looking for.

I’ve been reading reviews of several programs recently. My first scope was a little 90mm Schmidt Cassegrain, probably a dozen years ago, and at the time I had a simple little program that ran on any computer. Enter the time, date and your location, and it displayed the visible sky. Newer programs are quite expensive, and seem to have far more than I want, or are cheap but buggy. I do have a subscription to Sky and Telescope, which prints a monthly sky chart, but it lacks detail.

Hm…it suddenly occurs to me that I may be high-maintenance…

Frankr, after having just thoroughly enjoyed the first disk of the second season season of Adam-12, I gotta say I love that show even more now than when I first saw it when I was 10.

Dragnet was a good show and Harry Morgan was good comedy relief.

Hillstreet Blues was OK and

NYPD Blue was trash.

Don’t get me started on Miami Mice or any of the CIS shows.
