I have never had a smorgasbord. Is this what happens when s’mores have nothing better to do? I am kind of afraid now.

    Good Morning, Lonewolf

Have the s’mores attacked the World Famous Nuclear Coffee, milk and chocolate cake yet?

This is Boo-Monk’s fault he gets so carried away when we have s’mores. I remember last time he was dunking one in Nuclear Coffee. It must have reproduced.

Mine are bad I will have to take class over. I thought I was the only one in trouble about Internet looking up resources for help, then notice others putting down where they where finding resources, strange thing is what they wrote is only 5 paragraphs, mine have been longer breaking down discussion and at least different.

I went shopping yesterday, and on the way home I noticed some neat combination of the clouds and the setting sun. I have a little trouble at my house, because I don’t have any west windows that I can see from our main living area. (I’d have to climb up a flight of stairs.) Our house faces SSW, so at least if I crane my neck, I can get an idea if the sunset is anything interesting or not. But to get the pictures, I have to walk a little ways, to get past the trees. Between the leaves and the fact the sun is further to the south in the winter, probably explains why I seem to take more sunset pictures in the winter.

Hi, hope&joy & Grog! I started following Dark Side when it moved from the Sherpa. I don’t know if I’ll keep it in my line-up or not, but I’ll give it a few months to see if it grows on me. Our house was designed to be built in two phases, and the 2nd phase was to have a wrap-around porch, with a portion of it screened in, plus the living & dining rooms on the west. Alas, we never got that built. I will miss having a high location to view (& take pictures of) sunsets from, when we move. I doubt I’ll be able to find anything like this in that area. It is pretty rare for around here. I was thinking last night that if I’d had my camera with me, I could have pulled off the highway and taken one from an overpass. I may have to do something like that to get my “fix” once we move. I really enjoy sunsets! Sojo - We don’t have as great of a view of sunrises from here, there are more trees and houses blocking the view of the horizon that direction, unless I want to drive out of our development. But I’m not a morning person, so I’m not usually in the right mood to enjoy beauty at that hour, even if I would happen to be up!

There are some large buildings in the way–and my room windows face S, or near enough as no never-mind–so if I want to see either sunrise or (most) sunsets, I have to go outside. And, furthermore, since I’m busy most days from about 6:00-8:00 a.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m., there aren’t too many days I’m even free to see dawn or dusk.

Still, a couple of times this fall, I was on the road and at a good place to pull off and spend 5 minutes to watch the sun set.

Sunrises being better than sunsets; I’ve wondered why that seems to be. It might be because at sunrises your eyes are more adapted to the dark and you can pick up subtle shades of color better.

Well, yes–it can be as late as about 10:00-10:15 p.m. (MDT) But then sometimes clouds get in the way, or other duties (meetings) get in the way, or I have to find other excuses. But often it seems like the most convenient times are just when I’m busy.

And, besides, I rarely get up at 4:00 or 4:30 a.m. to see the dawn…

boo-monk - If you have a complete cloud cover, I understand. I have found that having some clouds (as long as the sun can peek through) adds greatly to the beauty of a sunset. I can’t blame you for getting up that early to see a sunrise, although in the winter, it ought to be much later than that.

I prefer sunrises to sunsets. Though I can’t get any clear pictures from my house, there are places I can go to see the sunrise…..and take pictures. I think some of the best I’ve taken are on the Kemah Boaardwalk.

Grog - I’ve heard a lot of people say that, but even when I do remember to look out the window at the right time, I haven’t seen any really spectacular sunsets. I suppose with you being on the east coast of TX, that might make the sunrises better. I’m wondering if the location makes a difference, as I know that if I can’t get a clear view of the horizon, the best part of the sunset is hidden from view.

One problem with clouds here is that the visibility is so good that having any clouds low in the west (dusk) usually means they are pretty solid there.

On the other hand, having clouds to the east at dusk usually means they turn nice colors in the royal blue sky.

When we lived in the country we were on a high ridge and the land sloped gradually to the west and east…lots of trees, of course, but good views of both Sunrise and sets. I saw a lot of sunrises coming or going to work whether on night or morning shifts at the hospital…but here we can see sky color overhead but I have to walk to the end of the street or drive a bit to see it due to trees. We are a single story with walk-out basement, Rmom so that doesn’t help. I like winter sunsets or rises too…they are a bit different.

Grog - You’ve got a schedule like my hubby’s. He hates to go to bed early enough to get 8 hours of sleep, so on the weekends, he sleeps as much as he can, and still do what he needs to get done. I keep telling him it would be better to keep the same hours on the weekends, and go to bed earlier during the week, but he doesn’t see it my way. Before we had kids, I could sleep like him, but too many years of getting woke up by our sons trained me, I guess. Now that they like to sleep in, my body refuses to let me. I usually wake up around 7, but if I’ve got to be somewhere that requires me to get up before 8, I set an alarm to be sure I’m not late.

I know when we take road trips, I dread going through one of the large cities during the morning or afternoon commute rush. Even if my hubby or I are capable of driving in it, the extra time and stress isn’t any fun.

Doc, on your schedule, I’d think you might be sensitive to sunlight.

In my case I really dislike long winter nights. I’d hibernate through it if I could. I’m not a big fan of artificial light. Gives me headaches.

And I never go out at night…or in darkness, unless driving to work….and sometimes driving from work, but not often.

Rmom THANK YOU FOR THE LOVELY SUNSET That’s the kind I love. (Been at chorus practice.)

Lonewolf No, I can change my avatar but not my name even when I go into my account. I am a computer cripple and have to have the steps. I figure out what I can on my own but this comic world is a new world to me. I will give it some more attention after my Colorado kids’ visit.

BBS/LuvChaos how should I refer to you? I am currently working ahead on different text book. Then Wed prep time to type for GP. I also have wondered about Ladyhawk’s neighbor’s daughter. Cancer of any form is not nice.

My previous comment on computer, scaner/printer on affect and effect I ment exactly both words. This is wireless may have to contact manufacture. I should not have trouble with MS Word or PDF I think. I am really tired. Good night all.

I go I hope for last time to Specialist for my right shoulder. Feels really great. This specialist has a great sense of humor. He makes patients feel comfortable. I wish I knew about him over 20 years ago with my wrist that need worked done.

Sister Kab……….. umm…… I don’t know what I should be called anymore. Just use any of the ones I am likely to remember (or figure out) is me. Pretty much anything involving the words Luv, H8 or Sister. But don’t use Cute, Little, Bratty, or Sissy.

Good Night Sister Kab. Restful Slumber.
