Sheesh! There’s always someone who will nit-pick with any plan! Just because some people gotta die—is that any reason to reject a good, solid plan like a world without clowns?

    .

First they came for the jesters, and I did not speak outbecause I was not a jester. Then they came for the clownsand I did not speak out because I was not a clown. Then they came for the harlequins and the Pierrot and Pirouettes, and I did not speak out because I was not any of those. Then they came for me, and I did not speak out—because I was a mime!

Grog hubby’s parent’s lived in very remote ares outside of small towns. Had a farm with a few cows. Then his wife got him on with a major oil company. This was outside of town as was a oil pipe line. Hubby lived in a small town for 40 years. Adjusting to bigger life. I had to live in a small town very quiet. And when snow comes takes awhile to go anywhere.

Hi Kab. I think that may be only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to small town living. Depending on size, there’s not much to choose from in dining, shopping and entertainment. And what about medical emergencies?

I recall someone boasting about getting a Walmart Supercenter in Pampa, TX. But if they needed to go to a major chain or Doctor, they had to drive over an hour to Amarrilo.

Ummmm, no thanks. I may not like Houston that much, but I’ll take it over the small town. But then, to each his/her own. I grew up in a big city and I wouldn’t have it any other way, though small towns are great on occasion for weekend get-aways.

Grog not arguing with you on small towns. One my hubby’s parent decided to retire to a small town, dad never made it back in 1968 suffered a massive cornary three months before retirement and died next day. Anyway his mother decided to live in small town back then population around 2000. Now Maybe 3000. I agree one could walk around, car dealership now large, small gulf course, brand new HS, and so forth. Very quiet. Disadvantages employers would not hire if not from a big town. Felt if snowed workers could not get in. Funny people who live in large town had a hard time getting to work. She could never understand why anyone wanted to live in a big town. She was a farm girl. My b-i-l can not stand a big town. He wants an area you can see miles with no neighbors. My daughter does not like small towns. Our son got around in small towns now in a big town no one would know he is around.

Like I said, Kab, to each his/her own. It’s just not for me.

One of my favorite sights, was looking down into the valley I was headed in North Dallas as the sun was just coming up on those lit homes in the valley. Awesome! Then there’s the city skyline at night.

Then again there’s also sunrise on Galveston Bay. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Doctor Toon I have a friend she works full time with a bad back at Post Office not far from us. 3rd shift.Getting ready for bed very soon.Ah Grog I should say I lived in this small town 20-25 mins away from ICT for more then 25 years. Hubby lived for 40 years. 14 at his mother’s house after auction. I gave up a full time job low pay as to inconvient for someone to look after are first one and hubby did not want to help. I also am surprised Mrs. Ladywolf I still want to call her ♥Little Sister♥ as she is younger then my daughter, for her moving.

Small towns also have the problem of living in everybody’s pocket—and they in yours, so that everyone knows everyone else’s business. Who says there’s no entertainment?.I did have to laugh a few times over “small towns” in the media (more or less) recently.Smallville started with Clark Kent coming to Smallville, (KS?) pop. 25,000—and then 15 years later it was pop. 45,000. That’s 80% growth in 15 years, or about 20% every five years. Is any town in the Midwest or Great Plains growing at that rate??.Then there was the recent issue of Smithsonian, which had an article or column by a person who left the Big Apple to move to a small town: Lincoln, Nebraska. Population 260,000 or so. Which, in this neck of the woods, is hardly a small town. OK, it’s not an overgrown city like Chicago, or even the Twin Cities (over 3M). It’s closer to Denver (600k)—and even most people on the coasts have heard of Denver, I think. They might not find it on the map, but they know it’s somewhere in the Rocky Mountains out there..But the point is, out here, anything over 100,000 is a pretty good-size city. Even some of 50,000 are substantial cities, not really small towns. I think you really only get a “small town” feel at 20,000, and even better under 5000.
