Ew! I hate it when a professional paid cartoonist can’t correctly spell a simple English word!
Per Webster: To BATE: To RESTRAIN, as in restraining the fish from eating him. The word is not spelled incorrectly - you missed the double entendre. Besides, how could a worm “bait” a fish?
So there Smarty pants!!
Hmmmm. the double entendre works best for me if the word was ‘Bait’ instead..but I’m no expert..
PS: I began to follow this strip not only for the wacky humor but the wonderful vivid colors…
So many meanings… so little Thyme.
