LafinLarry: well it’s really bad in the burbs where the parent could drive the kid to school and still use less gas on the drive than keep the SUV idling for 10- 20 min or so.

My mother walked me to school on the first day of first grade, after that I was on my own. We lived only about 2 miles from the school.
