In the process of creation, Brilliant always chooses the words first, with the illustration later adding a special dimension to the finished product. He considers originality to be an essential factor. Brilliant also ensures that the material has lasting value and is capable of being appreciated in other times and other cultures. Because of this stricture, there can be no rhyme, no rhythm, no puns or idioms.
