Last month, Stone Soup creator Jan Eliot announced her decision to retire the daily version of the comic strip. To readers' delight, Eliot will continue creating Sunday installments.

Today, Oct. 12, marks the beginning of the final week of Stone Soup dailies, with the last daily running on Sat., Oct. 17. Follow the final week of dailies starting here.

As Eliot shared in an insightful Q&A:  

"I have reached a point in life where I'd like to be free of daily deadlines - free to travel more, spend more time with family and friends, pursue other creative projects. I love to write. I love photography. I've always been interested in marine science and scientific illustration. Who knows what might be on my horizon? It is exciting to think about the possibilities. But most of all, I'm looking forward to having just one great cartoon to create every week, to linger over the drawing and ideas and savor the fun of it."

While we'll miss following the daily adventures of Val, Joan and the rest of the Stone family, we're excited to see what Eliot has in store for us each Sunday.
