15x15 Comics For Scrabble Day

I didn't know a whole lot about Scrabble Day, but after a bit of Googling I discovered the single most important thing about Scrabble: it was created by a dude with the last name "Butts."

That's right, architect Alfred Mosher Butts created the tile word game in 1938 with the painfully straightforward name "Criss-Crosswords." Butts sold it to Criss-Crosswords fan James Brunot in 1948 to mass produce the game, and Brunot changed the name to the more familiar Scrabble. It wasn't until Macy's ordered a metric ton of the things in 1952 that it became the household, family fistfight-starting staple, and since then it's changed hands between a few different game companies. These days Hasbro owns Scrabble and you can play it on everything from your phone to your VR cerebral implant, but the tactile feeling of letter tiles remains one of life's simple pleasures. I mean, I think it must. At this point in my life, I'd much rather play the new Zelda or something.
