"C" Is For Comics In These 10 Cookie Monster Day Strips
by The GoComics TeamThe furry blue Muppet who has inspired generations of Om Nom Nom-ery among Sesame Street viewers turns something like 48 years old today. Yes indeed, it's Cookie Monster Day, which celebrates an approximation of Cookie's birthday. We say "approximation," because the iconic chow-downer overwent a number of mutations starting in 1966 under creator Jim Henson before becoming the character we recognize today. Originally he stole wheels, ate coffee break machines with sharp teeth, and hawked chips in purple fur, but as of the second season of Sesame Street in 1970 Cookie Monster has sported a blue coat, a toothless mouth, and demonstrated cookie-centric cravings. Truly, it took time and skill to craft the perfect Cookie Monster recipe.
