10 Funny First Down Comics For Football Day
by The GoComics TeamFootball is about one thing and one thing only: advancing a ball down a field. I mean, I guess it's also about beer commercials and Gatorade, but at its core, football is the struggle between two teams trying to smash their way past one another in pursuit of a touchdown. But every journey begins with a first step, and on Football Day we honor the game's premier order of business: getting a first down.
It's hard to figure out whether the first proper game of American football even had first downs when it was played in 1869, but somewhere along the line chain crews showed up and now 1st and Ten technology makes it super easy for TV viewers to see where their teams need to carry a ball. Truly, the first down is the (second or third) greatest star in the game.
