According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Lamorne Morris will star in Woke, a new half-hour comedy on Hulu based on the life of cartoonist Keith Knight. 

The comedy, which will combine live-action and animated sequences, follows an African-American cartoonist whose comics take a more provacative turn after he has a run-in with police. Knight is the creator of three strips featured on GoComics: The Knight Life, The K Chronicles, and (Th)ink. According to the Reporter, Woke will be largely based on The K Chronicles, which is an autobiographic comic Knight created that often takes on racial and political issues. 

No word yet on when Woke will debut, as the new show is under development. Morris has previously starred in Fox's New Girl, as well as movies like Game Night, and Barbershop: The Next Cut.
