Note the date, “1982”: in those days the Farmer-Drug Grower would have been in a heap of trouble if Bedfellow narced on him!

Or Hawaii or Northern California. And in my home state of Missouri, there are plenty of dormant back forties, with owners who are too old to regularly check the land, where trespassers sneak in and plant crops. Since it is not their land, the trespassers lose nothing but the crop (and their labor) if it is discovered. Doing this on several different farms increases the odds that at least one patch will make it to harvest.

This is my personal favorite Bloom County strip. Although the more I think of it the more favorites come to mind.

This strip doesn’t even appear daily, and now it consists of reprints? That “delete” button is looking better and better.

Largest cash crop in the USA by far, dwarfing corn, wheat, and soybeans combined. And almost all of it untaxed, unregulated black market deals.
