His timeline is a bit off. Our sun should be good for another 5 billion years or so. Plenty of time to get your Christmas shopping done and still spend some time reading in front of the fire.
Relax, the sun wont’t explode. It’s just going to slowly expand and eventually engulf the earth before it gradually recedes into its white dwarf stage for another trillion years. Long before that, we’ll have blown ourselves up, moved to another planet, or even found a way to put Earth in a more comfortable orbit.
