(Incidentally, the longitude and latitude indicated in panel 1 point to a spot in the Pacific Ocean, c. 800 km due east of Yokohama, Japan. No land in sight …)
rayannina, I was going to look it up too. I wondered at first if he meant west, but both are in the Pacific. Wonder if that’s where we’d find Andy Kaufman.
People had too high expectations about Halley. In 1986 it was on the far side of the sun when closest; in 1910 we went through the tail of it. But further, my father said he remembered seeing it in the north, in the daytime. But that was the Great Comet of 1910, not Halley. I think a lot of people remembered the wrong one. Halley is the only naked-eye comet with a short period, so its return can be predicted.

Andy Kaufman staged his death so he could become his new persona, Rush Limbaugh.

“Pocket Diaper Steamer”? I think I have a different idea as to what a diaper steamer is.

Interestingly enough, Andy Kaufmann is apparently still alive. I wonder if Breathed was in on it…

It’s alright. Opus lived long enough to make people cry when he left us in that one last panel.
