Listen, Thornhump; what I want is for you and the characters to settle this matter so we can see Opus and the gang again, real soon. Or else, you know, unforeseen accidents could happen—why, even in this very office. Capische?
With everyone that knows anything out of the office, he had to use poster board and markers instead of developing a PowerPoint slide and posting it on the web page.
Breathed’s genius here is unappreciated. He fulfilled his contractual obligation, and still honored the comic strip strike, by creating a new strip discussing the strike in sympathetic terms. Even those of us who regard unions as useless relics of the early 20th century can admire the finesse. Contrast this effort with the baseball strikes of 1981 and 1993, which only alienated their loyal fans.
